WordPress.com blocked in Turkey

As the//web//list now posts other stuff as well as theweblist.net news here is our first “other” blog post yay…

Thanks to the WordPress.com homepage we have found out that the whole WordPress.com domain has been blocked in Turkey. In my brief reading of the blog post on the official WordPress blog it seems that someone has been saying things about a particular person residing in Turkey. This person in Turkey has taken the case to a Turkish court and now the domain is blocked. I won’t go into my views on the situation as I don’t know enough, however the censorship has raised some interesting issues about Internet free speech, blogging, and censorship by governments.

Find the official blog post here: http://wordpress.com/blog/2007/08/19/why-were-blocked-in-turkey/

Oh and if you hadn’t noticed our blog is powered by WordPress.com and therefore is also now banned in Turkey.

  3. Hi friends I really love cooking of various unusual meals and especially pizzas. I am still looking for news sources of great recipes. I had luck to find new source for these recipes. You can download there over 200 recipes for amazing meals absolutely free. These guys who are running this on-line store have a lot wonderful and hard-to-find product in their inventory. Have a great day.Best regards Ed GARRETSON Santa Barbara, CA
